Maasai Mara

When you get used to the forests, the starrynights, the experiences in the woods, the beasts and their beauty, it all seems above everything. It all feels supernatural. This sensation is strongly felt in Maasai Mara National Reserve, sited in the Narok County of Kenya. The Maasai Mara, popularly called the Mara, adjoins with yet another renowned wildlife amusement, the Serengeti National Park in Mara Region, Tanzania. Wrapping around it, an area of 1,510 square km or 583 square miles, the park is just a miniature of the greater Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The ecosystem covers a mammoth area of 25,000 sq kms of Tanzania and Kenya taken together, making it Africa’s most diverse and incredible eco-systems.

Named after the famous Maasai tribe, the ancient inhabitants of the place, it is possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system.The Mara is globally famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, cheetahs, 1,300,000 wildebeest, 500,000 Thomson's gazelles, 97,000 Topi, 18,000 elands, 200,000 zebras and 470 species of birds.

What really takes everyone by an outright amazement is the Great Migration. It is an umbrella term for the migration of Africa’s most exotic beasts like the Zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest back and forth the Serengeti every year. To witness these magical moments of migration, is the greatest gift life can provide you with. The infinite herds of animals crossing your paths, with a puzzling excitement. The discipline each of these animals follow, bounded by the well-knit ecosystem, making us question our civil senses. Their encounters with their fellow inhabitants, moving on, after a silent greeting. The diversity in them which forms their oneness and strength. THIS is Maasai Mara for you.
