Tadoba

‘Life is but a daring adventure in the wild, or nothing’

Pretty sure all the forest fanatics agree to this statement. The tiniest element of nature connects the wildlife lovers to their inner self. TheTadoba National Park strives to give you one such mesmerising experiences. The TadobaAndhari National Park, situated in the Chandrapurdistrict of Maharashtra has the reputation of being the largest and also the oldest National Park of the state. Spreading across to a vast area of 1727sq kms, Tadoba truly feels like a galaxy of the greens. The national park which apart from being a tiger reserve, is a delighting domicile for a large number of unique species including the tigers, hyenas, sloth bears, wild dogs, barking deer, bison, sambar to name a few. Fascinatingly so, 74 species of butterflies and 195 kinds of birds are also recorded in the Tadoba.

This large piece of landscape has much larger strings of history attached to it. The Tadoba has several stories to tell for the silent listeners. Legend believes that Tadoba or Taru is the name of a densely populated tribal group which lived in the forest in ancient times. Since the leader of this troop killed a tiger in a mythological encounter, the name Tadoba stuck on. Likewise, the name Andhari is a tribute to the Andhari river that wanders through the forest area.

The differentiating component of the Tadoba from the others, is the profound history behind the oldest National Park, which unfurls every minute, during the course of the explorative journey. The beauty of the beasts and the freshness the flora has to provide, is an out of the world feeling. This is why, a trip to Tadoba is worthwhile.
